Campbell Naismith Moody was born at Benvue, Bothwell, in Lanarkshire, on the eve of St. Martin, November 10, in the year 1865. He was the second son of Robert Moody, Writer, of Moody, McClure and Hannay, a well-known firm of solicitors in Glasgow. His mother was Mary Ewing Naismith, a member of an old Hamilton family. Campbell had two older sisters, Maggie and Mary, and two brothers, one older and one younger than himself, who both followed their father's profession, Robert Andrew in Glasgow, and George Alexander in Ayr.
